Katie McCauley Weber
As a partner in Taylor & Weber LLC, I help clients understand the legal landscape of divorce and then work with them to determine options and courses of action to negotiate and resolve the issues in their divorce. I also help clients determine if divorce is the right path for them by discussing frankly the legal and practical consequences of divorce. Following divorce, I help my clients with new estate plans and qualified domestic relations orders.
In addition to practicing law, I am a registered civil and domestic law mediator and a registered arbitrator. As a mediator, I help couples avoid expensive and time-consuming court cases. I focus on facilitating discussion and agreement between spouses who are having difficulty communicating about important issues. As an arbitrator, I decide issues for couples who are seeking to finalize their divorces without going to court.
I am a life-long Atlantan and graduated from the University of Georgia Law School, cum laude, in 1993 (J.D.). I attended New York University School of Law and received my LL.M. in Taxation in 1994. During the past 25 years my practice has included estate planning, corporate taxation, general business law, and qualified domestic relations orders. My career has taken me to Minneapolis, Chicago, and Atlanta (more than once). I live in Atlanta with my husband and two high school aged children.
Although I had worked with clients on complex financial and tax issues for years, it was only after witnessing friends and family undergo emotionally and financially draining divorces that I recognized the need for an effective and efficient divorce solution.
As part of that solution, I offer confidential divorce planning and settlement negotiation through my law firm Taylor & Weber LLC.
Additionally, I am a trained mediator certified by the State of Georgia for both civil and domestic relations mediations and provide mediation services through Modern Divorce Resolution LLC. After listening to your story, I work with you to set a process to achieve your goals, striving to always represent your best interests through productive discussion rather than conflict.
A native Floridian, I attended the University of Florida and graduated cum laude from Stetson College of Law where I was also a member of the Stetson Law Review. I returned to the University of Florida for an LL.M. in Taxation while also serving as a member of the Florida Tax Review. After obtaining my LL.M., I worked as an associate at Kilpatrick Stockton LLC and then as a partner at Taylor & Weber LLC and Modern Divorce Resolution LLC.
